Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port
The quintessential 20-year tawny, balancing Graham's signature richness with two decades of layered, nutty complexity.
Our Review
Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a benchmark expression of what two decades of patient cask aging can achieve. This is the sweet spot in the Graham's tawny range, where the house's signature richness meets the kind of layered complexity that only extended barrel time can deliver. The blend is a carefully calibrated selection of wines from multiple vintages, harmonized to represent a consistent house style that has earned global recognition.
The nose is immediately captivating. Waves of butterscotch and dried apricot arrive first, followed by toasted almond and a subtle interplay of orange peel and cinnamon. There is a depth here that the 10 Year only hints at. On the palate, the wine unfolds with rich caramel, walnut, candied orange peel, and toffee, all supported by a delicate spice note that gives the wine its backbone. The acidity is perfectly calibrated, providing lift and preventing the sweetness from overwhelming.
The finish is where this wine truly announces itself. It is long, warm, and elegantly fading, with a persistent nutty sweetness that lingers well after the last sip. This is a port built for contemplation, best enjoyed slowly in the company of good conversation or a fine cheese board.
Graham's 20 Year Old represents exceptional value in the aged tawny category. It competes favorably with wines that cost significantly more, and it remains one of our most recommended ports for anyone looking to explore the richer end of the tawny spectrum without venturing into the rarefied pricing of 30 and 40 year expressions.
