Our Review

Graham's Late Bottled Vintage Port is one of the finest examples of the LBV category, delivering a remarkable amount of quality for its modest price. LBV (Late Bottled Vintage) ports are single-vintage wines aged four to six years in cask before bottling, designed to offer vintage port character without the decades of cellaring that traditional vintage port requires.

The nose is immediately Graham's — rich, generous, and fruit-forward. Ripe blackberry and dark cherry are joined by chocolate fudge, sweet spice, and a subtle violet note that adds refinement. On the palate, the wine is full and satisfying, with plum, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate forming the core, mocha adding depth, and velvety tannins providing structure without harshness. The richness is classic Graham's, but scaled to the LBV format.

The finish is medium-long with warm chocolate, spice, and lingering berry fruit. It does not have the complexity or length of a true vintage port, but it delivers genuine pleasure and satisfaction.

Graham's LBV is arguably the best wine in its category. It punches well above its price point, offering a taste of the vintage port experience without the investment in either money or cellar time. It is an outstanding everyday port, equally suited to a casual Wednesday evening as to a Sunday dinner party.
